BRIDGING PROGRAM
The Initial Registration for Overseas Registered Nurses is designed to provide nurses with the knowledge, skills and understanding to practice safely and competently in a variety of health care settings in Australia.
On successful completion of this course, graduates will be eligible to apply to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for registration as a Registered Nurse.
The course modules are structured to provide a balanced program of theory and practice relevant to the career opportunities across a range of healthcare settings in Australia.

Upon successful completion of the program nurses can gain registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

What is the aim of this course?
This course is designed to provide international qualified nurses with the knowledge, skills and understanding to practice safely and competently in a variety of health care settings in Australia.

- 4 weeks: Theory sessions at either the Melbourne or Perth campus
- 5 weeks: Professional experience placement sessions at clinical facilities

How is the course assessed?
Assessment strategies are implemented for collecting evidence and making judgements about whether competency has been achieved by the learner.
The assessments confirm whether an individual can perform to the standards expected in the workplace, as expressed in the relevant endorsed unit of competency.

- Examination or testing
- Professional experience placement assessment
What will I get on successful completion of this course?
Students who successfully complete all of the required units of competency for this course will be issued a testamur with the record of results printed at the back. A statement of attainment will be issued if a student successfully completes one or more units of competency of this course, but does not meet the requirements for a qualification (as specified in the Training Package). The statement of attainment will list all of the units in which competency has been achieved.
What further studies could I pursue?
Graduates can also undertake further studies including Post Graduate Nursing courses. This course can also provide an entry into the Master of Nursing, and other higher qualifications in Nursing and Healthcare.

COURSE COMPETENCY DETAILS
This program consists of a theory component of 160 hours and an acute care Professional experience placement of 200 hours.
All Theoretical Assessments must be passed before the Professional experience placement component can be commenced.
